Caesar Creek Grand Re-opening AND All-Chapter Backpack Hike

The Caesar Creek Grand Re-opening is a chance to dayhike or backpack this section rich with history and abundant lake views. Fresh off a two year facelift as a result of a cooperative effort with various outdoor groups, we are anxious to demonstrate why Caesar Creek is an outdoor destination. We will hike the entire Buckeye Trail within the state park boundary over the weekend. Point of entry, staging and parking will be at the Horse Camp on Furnas-Oglesby Road where a shuttle bus will take hikers to the northern terminus (Paintersville-Spring Valley Rd.) on Saturday and the southern terminus (O’Neall Rd.) on Sunday to hike back to camp and your car. This is a one-time event so you will not want to miss this chance to hike where few have been before.

Saturday October 21

The shuttle bus will depart the horse camp on the half hour from 10 AM to 11:30 AM to Paintersville-Spring Valley Road. The hike back to camp is approximately 10 miles with little slope. However the views of the water are spectacular as the trail follows the creek’s footprint to the actual lake.

Sunday October 22

The shuttle bus will depart the horse camp on the half hour from 8 AM to 9:30 AM to O’Neall Road where the hike begins on the gorgeous Gorge Trail back to horse camp. Approximately 9 miles in length, this trail is graded moderate.
