Bylaws Committee Member

The Bylaws Committee:

• Reviews the governing documents of the Buckeye Trail Association on a regular basis to ensure the bylaws remain current, clear, and consistent with the organization’s mission and operations
• Drafts and recommends amendments to the bylaws, policies, or governance procedures when needed
• Ensures the organization’s bylaws comply with applicable Ohio nonprofit laws and align with best practices for nonprofit governance
• Evaluates proposed bylaw changes submitted by the Board, chapters, committees, or membership and provide recommendations before votes are taken
• Maintains an organized and up-to-date official copy of the bylaws and related governance documents
• Assists Board members, chapter leaders, and volunteers in understanding the bylaws and how they apply to organizational decisions or procedures
• Reviews governance structures such as Board composition, officer duties, committee structures, elections, and membership provisions to recommend improvements when appropriate
