What to expect
The Williamsburg Section begins at Grant Lake, then follows quiet country roads past farmland for about nine miles. Southeast of the city of Williamsburg, the trail enters East Fork State Park and the East Fork Wildlife Area for more than 23 miles of nearly continuous off-road hiking. Here, the Buckeye Trail shares the Steve Newman Worldwalker Perimeter Trail, offering steep climbs, rolling hills, and wide scenic views. Continuing west, the landscape shifts toward suburban development as the trail passes through Batavia and follows busier roads before reaching Milford. At Milford, the section connects with the Loveland Section and the Little Miami Scenic Trail, a popular rail-trail leading south toward Cincinnati and north toward Yellow Springs.

Camping locations

There are three backcountry sites along the Buckeye Trail within East Fork State Park. Free permits are required. To secure a permit, call 513.724.6521. In addition, a large family campground is available, however, it is located on the north side of the lake and is not convenient to access from the trail.

There are two seasonal sites within Milford: Jim Terrell Shelter and Riverside. Permits required →
