The Buckeye Trail Association is proud to partner with the America 250-Ohio Commission to amplify efforts in honoring, recognizing, and highlighting Ohio’s contributions to our nation’s past, present and future.
Through our partnership with the Ohio Commission, we are excited to collaborate at some of our favorite events and introduce a set of challenges for you to complete in 2026 as we celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States.
Earn your patch
250 Mile Hiker Challenge:
- Individuals who explore the Buckeye Trail for at least 250 miles in 2026 will receive a limited-edition red 250 Mile patch
- Individuals who complete 250 miles can email hikeexperience@buckeyetrail.org to receive their patch
- Your 250 miles on the Buckeye Trail do not have to be unique miles, but we encourage exploring as much of the Buckeye Trail as possible

250 Hour Volunteer Challenge:
- Individuals who volunteer for at least 250 hours in 2026 will receive a limited-edition blue 250 Hour Volunteer patch
- Hours will be tracked through our volunteer platform, Volgistics. Once you complete your hours, the Buckeye Trail Association will send your volunteer patch

Limited Edition Buckeye Trail Association Supporter:
- When you digitally donate $25 or more to the Buckeye Trail Association from President’s Day (February 16) to Independence Day (July 4), you will receive a special Buckeye Trail Association Supporter patch as a token of our appreciation

About the Ohio Commission
The Ohio Commission for the U.S. Semiquincentennial (also referred to as America 250-Ohio) was formed through the OH. Rev. Code § 149.309 and announced on March 1, 2022, on Ohio’s Statehood Day by Governor Mike DeWine. The 29 member commission is charged with preparing the state to participate in the United States of America’s 250th anniversary which culminates on July 4, 2026.
America 250-Ohio is a multi-year commemoration where Ohioans from all 88 counties will be in the spotlight of the impact Ohio’s unique role in our nation’s story.
Ohio and Ohioans have contributed much to the United States from statesmen to artists, from actors to Nobel laureates, and so much more. We will tell the story of Ohio, from the Native Americans who were here before Europeans to people who call Ohio home today. Ohio is a content-rich environment for anyone who wants to commemorate and celebrate Ohio’s contributions to national stories.
