Volunteer Spotlight: Cindy Somers
November, 2025.
Cindy Somers is a longtime, dedicated member of the Buckeye Trail Association whose enthusiasm and energy are an inspiration to all who know her. An avid hiker, Cindy has completed the entire Buckeye Trail—and she didn’t stop there! She’s now less than 300 miles away from finishing it a second time.
When she’s not leading or joining hikes, Cindy is busy celebrating the accomplishments of others. She meticulously tracks Buckeye Trail Finishers and ensures that every hiker receives well-deserved recognition at the annual TrailFest. Recently elected as Chair of the Central Ohio Chapter, Cindy has been actively organizing chapter hikes and work parties, helping to strengthen both the trail and the community around it. Cindy’s dedication, leadership, and passion for the Buckeye Trail make her a shining example of volunteer spirit and commitment to the trail community.
