The community effort behind this website
This website is the result of years of vision, volunteer hours, and a shared belief that the Buckeye Trail deserves a digital home as inspiring and accessible as the trail itself.
The idea for a comprehensive, fully rebuilt Buckeye Trail Association (BTA) website originated with volunteer leaders who recognized the need for a modern, user-friendly platform that better served hikers, volunteers, partners, and the broader Ohio community.
In 2025, a small “Strike Team” formed to turn that idea into reality:
Mary Hayes, Elyria Little, Jill Moorhead, and Aidan Reagh worked closely with developer Nigel Ewan to reimagine the site from the ground up with the assistance of Chapter Chairs and Section Supervisors: designing content structures, rewriting hundreds of pages, and building flexible systems to support the BTA for years to come.
This site reflects the collective effort of dozens of contributors across the Buckeye Trail community. Their ideas, edits, photos, and testing have shaped every corner of what you see here.
