I visited Bruce "Poppie" Purdy tonight. He is in Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus. He was moved from the intensive care unit to a regular unit a few days ago. Bruce had brain surgery on May 6 to remove a tumor. For those of you who don't know "Poppie" he is a BTA member and volunteer. He led numerous circuit hikes and was involved in helping get scouts on the BT. Poppie is not in good shape but his family hopes he can complete the remaining 200 miles of the Buckeye Trail. One thing you can do is send a free e-card to Poppie via the hospital web site. The e-cards are printed out and taped to the wall. If you mention the Buckeye Trail in your card the family will know it came from his Buckeye Trail friends.
