Katahdin or Mount Katahdin?

The USGS may call it Mount Katahdin. But the Appalachian Trail Conservancy calls it Katahdin. So does the Maine Appalachian Trail Club. The people who own it and manage it (state of Maine and Baxter State Park Authority) call it Katahdin.

Don't believe everything the federal government says.

I was explaining the reason why some people like to call it Mount Katahdin, not defending the mistake .. but in rereading my post I can see how it could be taken that way.
Sad in a way, because if we actually disagreed it would provide much more interest in this forum.  Grin
As it is, if we drift away for a couple weeks we really don't miss many posts.
WB has the advantage of having multiple people who will quickly disagree with virtually every post.

Let me come up with some posts.
There are several people that like to disagree with me.

On the lighter side;  My son turned on a video from Netscapes last night on the AT.  Showed north bound and south bound. Good video if I were walking.  Keeps me dreaming though.
